America: Jury Nullification

The essence of our system of government is the trial by a jury of peers. This type of trial was specifically set up to protect the people against the government. If the government intended to attempt to enforce a law that the people found abhorant or tyranical, they could aquit on the grounds that they did not agree with the law.

This right still exists today. Judges and other court personel will not tell you this, though. They want you to be afraid of them. No Jurer can ever be punished for the decisions they make while sitting on a jury! Period! The judicial branch of government stood as the only means for citizens to stand up against tyrants in their government. Also, frivolous law suits could be twarted in this manner as well.

We no longer adhere to a trial by a jury of peers, but jury nullification still exists. You just have to know about it. In fact, you'll probably get out of jury duty if you let them know that you will not convict for laws that you do not agree with. The courts don't want you educating other jurers about a jurers true power. Americans could defeat anything the government attempted to prosecute them for, including taxes, if everyone just knew this one simple fact.

The cure for authoritarian government who think that they know better how a person should live their lives is a trial by jury. The jury just needs to know that they are not required to vote guilty. If this knowledge were to be dissiminated to everyone, there would be no government abuse of power against citizens. Public school curriculum are decided by the government, and if they don't want you to know about jury nullification, they will not teach it to you as a child. They indoctrinate you to be an obediant debt servant to the growing appetite of the Federal Government.
